Chrissy Holbrook is the Director of Bands at Daniell Middle School in Cobb County, Georgia. Prior to coming to Daniell in 2011, she served as the Assistant Band Director at East Cobb Middle School and Hightower Trail Middle School in Cobb County and as the Band Director at private schools in the metro-Atlanta area and in an urban school system in Minnesota. During her teaching career, her bands have consistently earned the highest ratings at performance evaluations. Additionally, she was honored to be a finalist for Teacher of the Year at both Daniell and East Cobb Middle Schools.
Chrissy holds the Specialist in Music Education (EdS) from the University of Georgia, the Master of Instrumental Music (MM) from Arizona State University, and the Bachelor of Music Education (BME) from Texas Christian University. She also belongs to the following professional organizations: Georgia Music Educators Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators. Chrissy often serves as a flute clinician and adjudicator for metro-Atlanta middle and high schools and has also served as the flute instructor for the Cobb County Middle School Band Camp for many years. Previously, she has presented sessions at the Georgia Music Educators Association Inservice Conference and at the Georgia Independent Schools Association Fall Conference. Furthermore, her study titled “Music and Academic Success: A Review,” was published in the Georgia Music News. Chrissy’s biggest goal professionally is to encourage as many students as possible to both enroll in and be active participants in music classes at their schools so that they can enjoy the numerous benefits of participating in their school music programs. It is her hope that these students will make music a part of their lives as they move through school and into adulthood.
