MARK HOSKINS

Advisory Board

Mark Hoskins just retired after teaching twenty-five years in the Cobb County School district, and a total thirty-seven years in the world of marching pageantry arts. He spent the last nineteen years as Director of Bands at Wheeler High School in Marietta, GA, where he supervised three concert bands, marching band, jazz ensemble, winter guard and percussion ensemble. He also created and directed the GMEA District 12 Honor Jazz Ensemble in 2018.

A graduate of East Tennessee State University, he is in constant demand as an adjudicator, clinician, and conductor in marching band, jazz, and the concert band arena. His programs at Wheeler (and previously at South Cobb HS) were regionally and nationally recognized in those fields as well, consistently receiving superior ratings and best in class awards. While at ETSU, he had the opportunity to perform with many of the jazz greats of our time, including Jon Faddis, Ed Shaughnessy(The Tonight Show Big Band), Allen Vizzuti, Dick Oates of Flim and the BB’s, and Ernie Watts (GRP All Star Big Band). He was a four-year member and featured soloists with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps(’81-’84). He later became visual caption head for the corps in 2001 and was brass caption head for Magic Of Orlando Drum and Bugle corps in 1999 and 2005. He is a brass adjudicator for Drum Corp International and music judge for Bands Of America(Music For All). He is also a member of the Georgia Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, JEN(Jazz Educators Network), and a founding member of the Minority Band Directors National Association.

He is married to Maggy Hoskins and they have two children, Tamia Marie and Miles Anthony.
