Access to Instruments
Instrument Donation Program
Donated musical instruments drive many of the things we do at The Gift of Music Foundation. In many cases instruments are refurbished in our shop and added to our Access to Instruments program so beginner students can have an instrument at little or no cost. This supports our primary mission of providing resources for kids who may not be able to afford instruments through traditional means.
Some instruments, those usually not suitable for beginning students, are used in other ways to fund our programs and services. We recondition and sell used instruments and gear and use the proceeds to purchase more student instruments or cover the costs of our education programs.
Either way, your donated instrument accomplishes two things: 1) it puts the instrument in the hands of someone who will cherish it and fully appreciate it’s value, and 2) it helps ensure that kids who want to learn to play are not held back by the costs of instruments and classes. Your donation is literally giving The Gift of Music!
Instrument Repair Program
The Gift of Music Foundation has a full-service instrument repair shop in our new HQ facilities in northwest Atlanta, GA. Our shop can handle any repair on most band and orchestra instruments.
We offer quality workmanship with a best-in-class warranty from experienced instrument repair technicians. In most cases, we can also provide you a loaner instrument while yours is in repair. (Restrictions apply, ask for details)

Best of all, when you choose The Gift of Music for your repair, you are doing even more to help others! Unlike commercial music stores, all of our proceeds from repairs go directly to the programs of The Gift of Music Foundation to help provide instruments and music education for kids. Why not help others while getting great service at the same time?
Access to Music Education
This program was started to assist in replacing music classes that have been eliminated by public schools.
The Access to Music Education Program provides students in grades 3-5 with a 9-month beginning instrumental program at participating public schools in an after-school environment. The curriculum focuses primarily on learning to read musical notes and play selected instruments, with classes meeting twice a week. The study is based on established educational guidelines provided by state and local authorities.
Numerous studies have proven that students who learn music benefit in many other ways during this essential age window in a child’s overall development. Increases in cognitive and social skills are real. Students who learn music frequently perform better in academic areas and in the growth of crucial life skills
As school budgets are stretched thin and arts-based programs are often the first to be eliminated or downsized, we believe it is a major priority to take action to keep music education in our schools.
Instrument Sales Program
Music is meant to be shared, and musical instruments are no exception. With our new showroom space in Northwest Atlanta, and through our online store and eBay store, The Gift of Music Foundation has many great deals available on used instruments and equipment.
Many of these items were donated and are looking for new owners who will love and appreciate them, and put them to good use in creating more music for the world to enjoy. At the same time, proceeds from our sales go directly to the charitable program of the foundation. So when you buy an instrument from us, you get a great deal on an instrument with lots of life in it. But more importantly you are providing opportunities for young people to gain access to their first instruments and/or classes. You are giving the gift of music to others and helping make sure no child misses out on music because of a lack of funds.
Programs of The Gift of Music Foundation would not be possible without the incredible support of our community. Key partners include:
